The calculator and guides on this site are estimates built on stated assumptions — provided as-is, for planning, not for invoices. The specifics:

A model of your session, not a recording of it

The charge-time math integrates a piecewise charging curve — peak to ~50% SOC, stepping down to ~10% of peak at full — which approximates a typical modern EV. Yours has its own curve: an 800-volt car holds peak longer, an older 400-volt car steps down sooner, and every curve shifts with battery temperature, age and chemistry. Treat results as informed estimates; treat your car’s spec sheet and a metered session as the truth where they disagree.

Prices, fees and rates move

Electricity prices, network fees, connector standards and vehicle specs change. The per-kWh figures in examples and presets are honest typicals — your bill, your network’s app and your EVSE’s label are authoritative. Public-network session fees, per-minute billing, idle fees and membership pricing are deliberately outside the cost model.

Not electrical, financial or automotive advice

Nothing here is a substitute for licensed professionals. Electrical work — circuits, panels, EVSE installation — belongs to a licensed electrician working to your local code; the 80% rule and breaker tables here explain the convention, they don’t design your installation. Vehicle decisions, warranty questions and battery-health concerns belong to your dealer or the manufacturer’s documentation. Financial comparisons are arithmetic, not advice.

Safety note

Never improvise charging setups: no daisy-chained extension cords, no adapters between incompatible receptacle types, no EVSE on a circuit it wasn’t designed for. Level 1 from a household outlet is the one case where “just plug it in” is sanctioned — everything else deserves the circuit its rating requires.
